This Morning's Phillip Schofield admits to being 'a bit scared' of going out as lockdown lifts

Phillip Schofield has admitted to feeling a 'scared' of going out lockdown eases.

The This Morning host was back fronting the ITV show on Thursday alongside Rochelle Humes and the pair were joined by Channel 5 news presenter Sian Williams who is also a trained psychological therapist with the NHS.

The Welsh presenter was on the show to take part in a phone-in with viewers who may be feeling anxious or worried about the easing of coronavirus restrictions.

The next step to lift lockdown in England is due to take place on May 17 when pubs and restaurants will be able to serve customers indoors.

On today's This Morning, after hearing Gok Wan talking about how people are excited to get out following the easing of lockdown earlier this month, Sian explained: "Some people will perhaps be feeling a little bit of anxiety about lockdown easing," which prompted Phil to shout out: "I am!"

He went on: "I was saying to Gok... Now, Gok is Mr Party and he is going to take me under his wing and look after me.

"I was fine until maybe about three months ago and then I feel like I’ve jumped off the rails a little bit."

The 59-year-old added: "You lose momentum and you get a bit scared. It’s not that I’m scared about the virus, it’s just the fact that I’m not used to going out."

Sian then advised Phillip: "Just think where your brain’s been for the past year.

"It’s been in a state of constant threat and danger, looking out.

"Your brain is in that system and it's hard to switch out of it."
