This Morning's Phillip and Holly celebrate 'landmark day' for show as restrictions ease

This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were left ecstatic on a 'landmark day' for the show with a big change in the studio.

The pair were back at the helm of the ITV show for the third day in a row, after Holly's return to work from an extended break and, unlike for the majority of their shows from the past year, they were joined on set by a number of others.

Coronavirus restrictions have resulted in a big restriction on guests joining This Morning presenters in person, with the majority of interviews over the past 12 months conducted via video call.

The only really regular 'in person' guests have been the programme's resident chefs but in the past few weeks, there has been an easing on restrictions, with Phillip overjoyed last week when Status Quo legend Francis Rossi became the first 'showbiz guest' since the first lockdown and last year.

And the veteran presenter was in equally buoyant mood on Wednesday when he and Holly had a 'studio full' as they welcomed guests including Steve Wilson, Dr Zoe and Gok Wan and Graham Norton onto the show.

Phillip turned to Holly to say: "You know this is a a landmark day for us. We marked two or three first guests that came in last week - Francis Rossi and then gradually, bit by bit by bit...today the first time the studio feels fuller."

A beaming Holly replied: "It really does," as Phillip added: "Look, we've got people everywhere!" before introducing Gok who was in the This Morning kitchen ready to prepare a Thai sweet and sour salad with king prawns.

As he also revealed he'd be making a lychee martini, Holly remarked: "can you just stay forever?!" to which the famous fashion guru and DJ replied: "I'd love that!"
