A mum who appeared on This Morning to discuss the devastating effects of sunbed use after losing her left ear to skin cancer has been subjected to trolling.
Anthea Smith was diagnosed with melanoma after a spot appeared on her ear.
The 44-year-old underwent life-changing surgery; which saw her left outer and inner ear removed, along with her salivary glands, lymph nodes and a temple bone from her skull.
The mum shared she no longer has any sense of taste after the operation and has to wear a prosthetic stick-on ear when she needs to use her glasses.
Anthea, from Bolton, is now calling on others not to make the same mistakes she did.
After the the advert break, host Judy Finnigan begged viewers to be kind.
She said she had discovered Anthea was being trolled for sharing her experiences on the popular morning show.
After saying she believed Anthea to be brave, Judy said: "Please be kind, as everyone is saying."
She added: "Please don't troll Anthea."
Her co-host husband Richard said: "Do you know what, Judy? You'll get trolled because of saying that."
Viewers agreed with Judy's comments.
One Twitter user said: "Seriously? The lady that’s just appeared on @thismorning to talk about her cancer is being trolled? What goes on in the tiny minds of some!! Very brave lady!! Shame on you trolls!!"
Another said: "People (trolls) really don’t understand the impact of their actions.. A woman has been brave and shared losing an ear due to tanning and she is getting trolled. She is the real brave one not the people being bullies behind screens #ThisMorning.. What happened to #Bekind?!"
