This Morning's Holly Willoughy and Phillip Schofield scold competition caller for breaking the rules

It’s turning out to be the most contentious This Morning competition ever - and today Spin To Win brought even more drama to the table.

It’s not the first time that contestants have ‘broken the rules’ - and it’s unlikely to be the last despite hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s best efforts to prevent it.

On Monday morning’s episode of the ITV programme they were so frustrated they had to scold the caller who was eliminated from winning a prize after saying ‘hello’ instead of the codeword.

Phil said: "The code word has to be the first thing you say when you pick up the phone, so do not say 'hello' because we will hang up."

The Spin To Win game was introduced earlier this month when the daytime favourite was extended by half an hour.

It doesn’t always go to plan, however - one viewer won a holiday to Edinburgh - the city where she lives - and another was completely cut off.

A few have made the mistake of saying ‘hello’ when they picked up the phone - and today was no different when Steve called in.

Holly scolded: "Hang up Steve. Don't say hello. Steve we had one rule, we said it very, very clearly and you said hello. Very disappointed in Steve."

Phillip chipped in: "Oh, Steve. Right, next one."

The next caller certainly made up for Steve’s failure - not only did she answer with the correct codeword she also bagged herself a cool £1,000 in prize money.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am.
