This Morning’s Holly Willoughby sobs after Phil Schofield's cruel car crash prank

This Morning 's Holly Willoughby had a very cruel April Fool's prank played on her last year by her co host Phillip Schofield and the rest of the team.

In This Morning's advent calendar on Tuesday, the clip resurfaced as it was played on the show and Holly cringed watching it back.

Phil explained: "On the 1st of April, Holly had high hopes for Carol's transformation, after she was nominated for a makeover by her husband Pete.

"But little did Holly know that everything was a total lie!"

In the throwback clip, Carol stepped out into the studio with her new look, but when Holly and Phil told her how great she looked, she burst into tears.

The duo asked her if she was okay and she replied that she hated her makeover and asked for filming to stop.

Lisa Snowdon, who assisted with the makeover, appeared offended, as Carol started crying before admitting it wasn't what she expected.

Holly reassured her that there was plenty of other outfits for her to choose from downstairs.

But suddenly, Phil rushed her out, with Pete claiming they would have to wait to change her outfit, as they had been booked in for a meal at a posh resturant.

As a clearly panicked Holly reeled, Pete and Carol were shown being driven away only for the car to suddenly crash into the building.

Holly and Phil looked stunned as Holly tried to go to an ad break, but Phil interrupted her and shouted: "April fools!"

Realising the whole thing was a prank, Holly burst into tears in shock and relief.

"Are you joking? Oh my god that was so awful, I was panicking so much," she sobbed.

"I hate you all!"

Back in the present day studio, Phil was in fits of giggles at the clip as he laughed: "Ah that was a beauty!"

"It was so awful, the tears were tears of absolute relief that it wasn't real!" Holly said.
