This Morning's Holly and Phillip rant at viewers after Spin to Win embarrassment

By Simon Duke

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield threw a strop and ranted at viewers after they were embarrassed in front of ITV colleague Robert Peston as disaster struck yet again on Spin to Win.

The ITV programme's daily game show is prone to hiccups as Phillip and Holly ring viewers at home who have entered with a chance of winning big cash prizes and a bag of goodies.

But, all too often viewers forget they have signed up to enter as they either don't answer the phone at all or answer with 'hello' rather than the day's catchphrase.

At the start of his and Holly's second week back at work after their extended summer break, Phillip did actually pre-empt that something might go wrong as the pair prepared to interview political editor Robert about his new novel.

Phillip joked: "There's a hard-hitting journalist over there watching us now as we play Spin to Win."

Unfortunately, Monday's Spin to Win was no laughing matter as the first viewer they called, a lady named Barbara, failed to pick up, with the call going to voicemail.

Phillip fumed: "Barbara! What's more important than this?!"

Things were no better with caller number 2, Dan, as he answered "Hello." Holly remarked: "What a wally!" before Phillip shouted: "You've let everybody down!"

Holly and Phillip's third, fourth and fifth calls both went to voice mail as Holly joked: "It's never great, but it's never this bad, let me assure you Robert."

Holly then said: "You know what? This is the thing that ignites my Twitter more than anything, people saying 'I was in. Why didn't you ring me?!"

Phillip added: "Don't be like Dan. Dan ruined it for everyone!"

Studio guest Andi Peters shared in the frustration, ranting: "Pick up the phone. Don't be a Dan!"
