This Morning's Holly and Phillip get the giggles over cheeky chicken segment

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were left giggling like school children on This Morning during a segment about stuffing a chicken.

Clodagh McKenna returned to her position of chef for today’s cooking how-to, explaining the best way to perfect your roast chicken skills.

However, when she began stuffing the bird’s ‘cavity’, Phillip and Holly started laughing over the innuendos her commentary involved.

Saying that she was "pimping up" the chicken with some herbs, Clodagh started referring to the "slits" and telling viewers "not to be squeamish".

“It’s OK to touch it, because it’s going to be in your body,” she simply stated, with Holly immediately beginning to crack up.

When Clodagh pulled the slits back, Phillip started laughing too.

Trying to curb the pair’s childish instincts, Clodagh said: "This is a serious matter!"

Things went from bad to worse for the pair now the giggles had started, with Holly admitting: “I don’t even know what I’m laughing at!”

And when Clodagh put her hands inside of the bird - all bets were off.

Holly and Phil are no stranger to cracking up while on air, with the team often placing them into rude-sounding situations in a bid to make them crack.

Earlier this year, Phillip ended up getting Holly in trouble after another cooking segment left her with a stain on her shirt.

Holly’s ability to make innuendos also caught her out in February when she declared she takes beans ‘in five ways’ after previously saying she didn’t like them.

It seems the cooking segment often catches them off guard - with some of their biggest mishaps coming as a result of their interactions with chefs.

This Morning remains a firm favourite with daytime TV viewers, and two weeks ago the show took home a National Television Awards for their efforts.

"We are always massively, massively proud of This Morning and our family and our team," Phillip said on stage at the O2 Arena.

"What was amazing for us was, every single day, because of the brilliance of ITV, we could stay on-air and we could be there.

"We felt like we were everyone's comfort blankets, but for all of us, you were our comfort blankets too.

“Thank you for that, thank you for being there with us and also thank you to my best friend."

Handing the award over to Holly, she added: "This Morning is an incredible team, and we are lucky to just be one cog in the wheel.

“We just wanted to give you a normal morning, thank you for voting, it means the absolute world."

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
