This Morning's Holly and Phil left open-mouthed by what Prince William said to Kate Middleton

This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were left stunned to find out what Prince William said to Kate Middleton during the Commonwealth Day Service.

The royals were reunited with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Westminster Abbey for the first time since they decided to quit royal duties.

Royal expert Camilla Tominey revealed to This Morning viewers what The Telegraph's lip reader had discovered about the conversation between William and Kate.

She said: "When William sat down, he turned to Kate and said, ‘This whole handshaking thing is weird. We’re going to have to put a load of hand gel on after this’."

Holly and Phil were left open-mouthed, while Holly shouted: "No he didn't! That's fantastic."

Camilla added: "He did say that.

"They're only human, they're thinking what everybody else is thinking."

The royal expert also explained how there were no conversations between the brothers despite being near each other.

She said: "There were notably no conversations, it was just hellos.

"And they were not too far apart, not just on those rows but in order of royal precedence, the Sussexes arrived first and then William and Kate came in."

Phil claimed there was some nice 'brotherly support' from William to Harry as the Cambridges decided to walk in at the same time as the Sussexes and negate the formal ceremony.

But Camilla added: "Yes, of course it was a show of brotherly support, but in the actual Abbey, there wasn't much brotherliness going on.

"They didn't really have a conversation with each other and that was quite obvious for people looking at you."

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
