This Morning's Eamonn Holmes sparks concern from viewers as he misses link leaving Ruth to explain

Eamonn Holmes sparked concern from viewers on Monday after he was late for a This Morning link, forcing wife Ruth Langsford to give an explanation.

Eamonn and Ruth, as they often do, stepped into host the ITV daytime show as regular presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby took a break for the Easter holidays.

But, before the show had even started, Eamonn explained to Lorraine guest host Cat Deeley that he was in a lot of pain with his back and it had got worse.

Last week the famous TV personality revealed to his many social media followers that he was in severe pain and was in hospital as a result.

And then at the start of Monday's This Morning, he explained: "I've got an MRI scan but the trouble is everything closes down for Easter, I haven't got it analysed yet.

"But what I do know is that I can't sleep at night. The pain is absolutely worse at night."

Eamonn and Ruth urged people at home to get in touch to share their struggles with chronic pain but as the segment was due to get going following an ad break, he was nowhere to be seen.

Wife Ruth told viewers: "It's ironic actually that he's not here as he had to nip to the loo and because it takes him so long walking, he's just on his way back."

Eamonn then came into shot as he tried to hurry towards the desk aided by a walking stick, before taking a seat next to Ruth.

And fans of the show were quick to voice their concerns for him, with one tweeting: "Eamonn you look in such pain, god bless you. I know what pain is as I suffer day in day out! Much respect for the show must go on!!"

Another reacted: "you look in so much pain Eamonn .. can see it in your face .. hope you get sorted soon," with a third simply commenting: "Poor Eamonn."
