This Morning's Eamonn Holmes has Ruth in tears with 'rude' memory as they replace Phillip and Holly

Eamonn Holmes had the whole of the This Morning studio in hysterics and wife Ruth Langsford in tears as he recalled a 'rude' memory from a birthday night out involving a blow torch.

The husband and wife duo were back on presenting duties on the ITV show on Monday, stepping in for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby as they take a break for Christmas.

After losing their regular Friday slot to the new presenting team of Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, Eamonn and Ruth will now be called on for 'holiday cover' and that is exactly what they're doing this week.

And Eamonn particularly made his presence felt amongst his colleague when, what should have been a run of the mill link, took a rather suggestive turn as he remembered something that had happened to him in a restaurant.

Ruth told viewers at home that chef James Martin was coming up with demonstrations on how to make whisky cured salmon and Baked Alaska for Christmas, with a blow torch on screen as she teased James' appearance.

As the camera went back on Eamonn he said: "I went to a restaurant for my birthday and they offered me a blow torch on the table didn't they darling, didn't they?

"And I declined didn't I?"

As Ruth began to buckle, Eamonn continued: "Do you remember the meat? She said to me 'would you like a blow torch?' and I said 'no, just cook it for me!'"

As she started crying with laughter and put her hand to her face, Ruth replied "it's true," before other half Eamonn made her laugh even more by adding: "I haven't seen one since!"

The duo then cut to studio guest and former I'm A Celebrity winner Toff but she too struggled to keep composure and told Eamonn: "I can't stop laughing at what you just said!"
