This Morning's Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford disappoint fans with announcement

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford today ended their seven-week stint of hosting This Morning.

The couple have kept viewers entertained for the past two months while regular hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have enjoyed the summer holidays with their families.

However as their stint comes to an end fans have expressed their disappointment and don't want to see them leave.

Many of the show's viewers took to Twitter to express their disappointment, with one saying: "Eamonn and Ruth, gonna miss you, come back soon!" and another viewer added: "I DON'T WANT RUTH AND EAMONN TO GO."

A third disappointed fan said: "I'm going to miss Ruth and Eamonn."

The couple's fans also thanked them for a 'summer of fun', with one viewer tweeting: "Thank you @RuthieeL and @EamonnHolmes for a summer of fun on @thismorning - will miss you."

Before Eamonn and Ruth ended their last show today, they played a video showing their best bits from the past seven weeks.

Before the clip played, 61-year-old Ruth said: "A massive thank you for joining us this summer. We've had a great time, it's gone far too quickly. Lots of smiles and lots of fun."

The video included: Eamonn's dad dancing, interviews with different guests that they have had on the show, Ruth doing CPR on a teddy bear, Eamonn announcing that he's become a granddad for the first time and the couple's funny bickers.

When the video ended, the show's crew erupted into a round of applause and Eamonn said: "Thank you everybody, thank you crew.

"Seven weeks, five days a week and it's just gone like that."

Alison Hammond and Rochelle Humes will take over presenting This Morning before Holly and Phil return on Monday, September 6.
