This Morning's Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford confirm end of stint as main presenters

This Morning viewers have declared 'summer has flown by' after Eamonn Holmes revealed that next week will be his and wife Ruth Langsford's last one as main presenters of the show.

After they lost their regular Friday slot to Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary at the end of last year, it was confirmed that Eamonn and Ruth would be used for 'holiday cover.'

The pair have been standing in for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for five full weeks now as the presenting partners in crime taken extended break for summer.

Ruth has taken time off from being Loose Women anchor for her and Eamonn's stint on This Morning, but she assured fans of the lunchtime talk show she would be back.

And she could be back on the Loose Women panel within weeks as, at the end of Friday's episode Eamonn confirmed they won't be on This Morning for much longer.

Right before credits rolled he said: "Thanks for watching all this week. We're back Monday to do it all again and it's our last week so hope you can join us."

Reacting to Eamonn's announcement, one upset viewer took to Twitter to post: "Eamonn and Ruth’s last week next week… summer has went by in a flash."

A second tweeted: "Love these two. Really not looking forward to the other two coming back," and a third posted: "Eamonn and Ruth make me laugh, shame they aren’t permanent presenters.

Prior to Eamonn and Ruth's extended hosting stint on This Morning, the former GMTV star revealed he was battling a serious health issue, after being struck down by chronic pain earlier this year.

He has been seen on screen with a walking stick on numerous occasions, including when Ruth filmed him dancing in the studio at the end of last Friday's show.
