This Morning's Dermot O'Leary 'replaced' as host midway through ITV show

Dermot O'Leary was suddenly 'replaced' on Tuesday's This Morning, as the host disappeared off screen after an ad break, with another ITV star taking their place alongside Holly Willoughby.

As soon as Phillip Schofield confirmed he was leaving This Morning, bookies made Dermot the immediate favourite to be his full time successor, with the former X Factor star put ahead of co-stars like Alison Hammond and Josie Gibson in the odds. And Dermot, famous in the 00s for being a presenter on the likes of T4 and Big Brother's Little Brother, has been handed a key 'advantage' in the race to get the job, by getting to host This Morning with Holly for two consecutive weeks.

Dermot and Holly were back at the helm for their second show of the week, as they were joined by regular guests Nick Ferrari and Camila Tominey and Nick Ferrari to discuss the big news stories of the day. And someone else who made their presence felt in the studio, after a few months away, was TV chef Gino D'ACampo.

He was back in residence in the This Morning kitchen for a dessert demonstration and a cocktail masterclass, snapping at Dermot after he dared to question him live on air. As Dermot challenged Gino, the chef shot back: ""Who is the cook?! Do I tell you how present the show? No."

The clash clearly gave This Morning bosses food for thought as, when the show returned from a break, with around half an hour of the broadcast remaining, Dermot was nowhere to be seen, as Holly was instead sat bedside Gino. revelling in his new role, read a link from the autocue in front of him, before he and Holy crossed live to Loose Women, to get a preview of what was coming up.

Loose Women host Ruth looked taken aback as being greeted by Holly and Gino, rather than Holly and Dermot, while some viewers at home welcomed the new double act. Taking to Twitter, one contacted This Morning directly to react: "make holly and gino a frequent duo- love dermont but gino just brings a different level of joy. Maybe keep dermot for more serious episodes….. but MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!!!"

However there were others who take a much different stance, with one distinctly unimpressed viewer tweeting: "Omg get rid of that gino and Holly have a good clear-out"
