This Morning's coronavirus interview shocks viewers as family are spoken to 'like caged animals'

This Morning viewers were left shocked on Tuesday by a very awkward interview with a family in isolation due to coronavirus fears.

The family from the Wirral are in self-isolation after a trip to a coronavirus hotspot and This Morning reporter and former Watchdog presenter Alice Beer travelled up to conduct an interview with them.

However, things got very awkward very quickly as she began speaking to them from their drive as they all perched on a window sill while mum Lorraine was on a separate FaceTime call direct to the ITV studio to explain more about what they were going through.

Telling viewers how they were all feeling, Lorraine, who revealed the family had all tested negative for COVID-19, said: "We're all completely fine and have none of the symptoms!"

"Initially it (being quarantined) was quite nice but now the novelty has worn off, we feel like caged up animals!"

Lorraine's eldest daughter Niamh was interviewed outside by Alice, after she was forced to move out of the family home due to the fact that she didn't go on holiday with her relatives.

She told Alice: "I've been bringing them food deliveries" as the camera panned to two Tesco bags left by their front door.

Talking about how her other children have coped, including son Jordan who had to spend his 17th birthday in quarantine, Lorraine added: "The kids are a bit argumentative with us, Jonny is desperate to go back to school and is extremely worried about falling behind at school.

"His A-levels are coming up and they're emailing him the work home but he needs to attend classes to fully understand the curriculum".

Viewers were left bemused by the whole thing, with one tweeting: "they look like they're in the zoo, I'm crying," and another reacted: "Human zoo in the Wirral".
