This Morning's Alison Hammond says she 'still needs to bond' with Dermot as viewers complain

This Morning presenter Alison Hammond has said she 'still needs to bond' with co-host Dermot O'Leary as some viewers complain about them taking over the show on Fridays.

The pair have been at the helm of the ITV show at the end of every week since the start of January after it was confirmed at the end of last year that they'd be replacing Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

But, while some fans of the show have absolutely loved the new partnership, saying they brighten up Fridays, others have pleaded with bosses to bring back Ruth and Eamonn, saying they've now switched channels as a result of the presenting shake up.

And, during Friday's episode Alison joked that she still needed to bond with former X Factor presenter Dermot.

The duo were chatting to Lizzie Gee and her son Rufus, eight, who took up tap dancing in lockdown. As well as going viral with his dancing skills, Rufus said that it had helped the pair bond over the past year.

"I am actually speechless at how good at tap dancing you are, because I actually did tap dancing when I was a kid," said Alison.

"It's just a really nice thing to do isn't it, to bond? And I feel like me and Dermot, we still need to bond," she said, as Dermot burst out laughing.

Since Dermot and Alison took over on Fridays on January 8, their episodes have averaged 1.3million viewers and got 21% of the available TV audience.

But some viewers aren't happy.

Watching Friday's show, one tweeted: "Can we please have Eamonn and Ruth back on Fridays, Alison and Dermot are unbearable to watch" and another, sharing the same feelings, posted: "they should replace Alison and Dermot with Ruth and Eamonn. as Alison and Dermot simply don’t work on the show."

A third tweeted: "I like Alison and Dermot on their own but are terrible on This Morning together"

There's a lot of love out there for them too though, with one fan enthusing: "Love Dermot and Alison on #ThisMorning,"
