This Morning's Alison Hammond launches 'manifesto' in response to PM pleas

Alison Hammond has responded to calls for her to step into politics by launching her "manifesto" on This Morning.

Research commissioned by Channel 4 ahead of its new show "Make Me Prime Minister" showed Martin Lewis was the favourite celebrity to be the country's next leader among those surveyed. Mr Lewis was closely followed by David Attenborough, Stephen Fry and Alison Hammond.

The new show sees Alastair Campbell and Baroness Sayeeda Warsi put 12 ambitious members of the public through their "political paces" as they compete to be crowned Channel 4's "alternative" PM.

Alastair and the Baroness appeared on This Morning on Wednesday to discuss their new show. And they were treated to a surprise appearance from Alison.

Standing on a podium with a plaque that read: "There's Hope with Hammond", she told viewers her first manifesto pledge would be to completely get rid of all bills. She said she would get the money in other ways, "mainly from men who wear sandals and socks".

She went on to say she would give everyone in the UK their own plot of land, and that there would be no speed cameras and that people could "park wherever they want".

Alastair told her she was "too populist" and it would "never happen", but many viewers at home were all for it. Taking to Twitter, Terri said: "Way to go Alison", while Christopher Davies said: "You've got my vote".

Christine said: "Alison Hammond for Prime Minister. She always makes me smile"
