This Morning's Alison Hammond blindsides Heather Small with brutal Masked Singer remark

Alison Hammond left Heather Small and her co-host Dermot O'Leary speechless with a comment about the M People legend's short-lived stint on The Masked Singer.

Shock waves were sent through the panel and living rooms all across the country as multi-platinum singer Heather revealed herself to be Chandelier when she was the first act to be voted out of the new series.

Nobody had a clue it was Heather inside the costume as she covered Patsy Cline's Crazy and completely disguised her distinctive voice.

Many fans were disappointed in Heather for not making it further on The Masked Singer, arguing she would have stayed in much longer of she hadn't changed her voice so much.

Speaking to Alison and Dermot from home, Heather said she wished she had the chance to sing the eclectic mix of songs she had lined up, before she was taken aback by something Alison said.

Heather explained: "I think you have to keep it quite cryptic at the beginning because they want to have as many guesses an throw people quite a lot.

"And I think as you get further into the show, which I didn't, your clue become a bit more...."

Interrupting Heather, Alison told her: "I think that's the perfect job."

As Dermot put his head in his hands, Alison continued: "You get a job, you get kicked off the first week...result!

"Get paid...see ya later! Don't you think?"

After pausing for a second, Heather replied: "I have an issue with the words 'kicked off' Alison," as Alison could be heard saying "Awks!"

Heather continued: "You still get paid, you're right about that! But I think for me what it was is, it was that element of surprise and family entertainment.

"And also, I chose some songs that people wouldn't associate me with and that was a thing that I didn't get to sing as many songs as I would have liked."
