This Morning's Alison Hammond backtracks over 'cruel' request as viewers left thinking same thing

Alison Hammond quickly backtracked after issuing a rather cruel request to a viewer who'd been 'held hostage' in his own home by a particularly vicious seagull.

As she does every Friday, Alison hosted the ITV daytime show alongside presenting partner in crime Dermot O'Leary, with the show kicking off in unexpected fashion when the presenters crossed live to viewer Martin Green, who appeared live on camera from his Devon home. He explained to the pair that he'd been left scared to go into his own garden after coming under attack from a seagull on the roof.

Martin told Alison and Dermot that since a chick hatched "about three weeks ago," the gull had "got a bit excited," continuing: "Just at the time, I'd decided to try and get my garden back into a bit of order and he didn't like the strimmers, he didn't like the mower and as a result of that, he decided he didn't like me."

Martin explained that while the seagull hadn't yet attacked his wife, he'd been left bleeding after the bird swooped on him and had taken to wearing a baseball cap to try and protect himself a bit, adding: "When it struck me on the head it was really quite painful and frightening. And, after that, I thought I don't want to run the risk of any infection or anything so I'll keep my head clean and hopefully not draw blood again."

Putting Martin on the spot, Dermot quizzed: "If you went out into the garden now, would the seagull come down and hassle and harass you?" Martin replied: "Probably as soon as it saw me."

Listening in, Aliso responded: "Really?! Shall we try it?" She then let out one of her trademark giggles and added: "You know everyone wants to," before Dermot commented: "Martin, we're not asking you to but...."

Backtracking, Alison then told Martin: "No...don't do it because we would hate for a seagull...imagine if a seagull came down here in the studio," as a fake one appeared from the ceiling in front of her and Dermot.

Alison then said: "I know we're joking, but it is quite serious. What are you going to do Martin?!"

Viewers, like Alison, were left thinking the same thing, with one tweeting: "Alison wanting to see him get beat up by seagull," as another replied: "Not just Alison," as another posted: "Same here as I am calling bulls**t!"
