This Morning Ruth's awkward blunder as she calls Love Island winner 'Lillie'

Ruth Langsford found herself in hot water during an interview with the Love Island winners on today's This Morning.

The 61-year-old presenter was joined by husband Eamonn Holmes for the final show of their summer stint fronting ITV's flagship daytime programme.

They spoke to Love Island winners Millie Court and Liam Reardon on Friday's episode - who revealed how they are going to make their relationship work now the popular dating show is over.

Millie and Liam were involved in one the most dramatic events of the season after Liam kissed fellow Islander Lillie while he was in the Casa Amor villa.

Eamonn started the interview by directly referencing the saga by joking how Liam might have 'got the two confused'.

He said: "Before you're too hard on him. Millie and Lillie sound alike and you look alike. In fairness, it could be have been a mistake that anybody would have made."

Ruth clarified how Millie 'does obviously not think that' - before she confused the two names at the start of the next question.

Millie erupted into laughter as Ruth corrected herself - and fans on Twitter were in hysterics at the exchange.

One user said "Ruth did not just call Millie - Lillie on This Morning."

Another added "When Ruth called Millie Lillie…oops!

A third tweeted: "Oooh did Ruth just call Millie, Lillie on This Morning?"

A fourth commented: "Eamonn saying how similar Millie and Lillie are and then for Ruth to accidentally call Millie, Lillie. That's Millie is a good sport."

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV and ITV Hub
