This Morning pay heartbreaking tribute to guest John who died from coronavirus

This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby have paid tribute to an elderly guest who recently died after being struck down by coronavirus.

The man, called John, appeared on the ITV show at the end of last month, when Phillip and co-host Holly Willoughby crossed live to Dearnlea Park Care Home, where he was a resident.

The Rotherham care home went viral as the many elderly people living there made placards with messages on to their loved ones on Mother's Day and one of the carers revealed that John made a rather rude one about coronavirus, with a more family friendly 'do one coronavirus' one used for This Morning.

John then delighted both Holly and millions of viewers watching at home with a spirited rendition of karaoke classic Penny Arcade.

John passed away last week, with Phillip revealing his death in a heartbreaking tweet which promised a This Morning tribute to honour him.

And then on Monday, he and Holly gave a poignant address to remember John and how much being on This Morning meant to him.

A letter from his family read: "Thank you to This Morning; you made his dream come true. We'd like to thank the NHS staff and carers at Dearnlea Park for taking care of John and to those who did the Penny Arcade send-off for him."
