This Morning interrupted as Alison Hammond is questioned by police on live TV

When you're filming a live segment for TV, it's only natural to have a bit of a mishap now and again.

And that's exactly what happened to Alison Hammond on This Morning earlier today.

The presenter got interrupted by Italian police as she promoted the daytime TV's latest competition live from outside the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

As she stands in front of the iconic landmark, Hammond says: "Look there's the Leaning Tower of Pisa" before a number of police officers rush towards the crew.

A female officer then stands in front of the camera in an attempt to block the filming.

"Oh my gosh, we haven't got a permit," an embarrassed Hammond explains.

"Listen guys, we're in Pisa, we're not allowed to film here, but listen - there's a great, great competition.

"I'm going to get arrested. I love you loads. Laters," she adds.

The shot then cuts to a split screen, showing a gob-smacked Holly and Phil covering their faces as they watch the chaos unfold from the London Studios.

"Oh my god," Phillip exclaims, while Holly adds: "Good luck with that and good luck Alison with the Italian police."

"We've sent her to many places but I think that is the first time she's got arrested," Schofe jokingly adds.

The show then returns to Italy, where Alison can be seen running off air as she flees from the police.

Viewers rushed to social media to comment on the bizarre moment, as one posted: "OMG hahaha Alison and the Pisa police."

Another added: "OMG what am I watching."

This is not the first time Hammond has had a live TV mishap.

The presenter made a splash last year, when she accidentally pushed a model into The Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool on live TV.

She was presenting the weather for This Morning as part of the programme’s 30th anniversary when the unfortunate incident occurred.
