This Morning in meltdown as John Torode panics he's 'not ready' after just getting out of shower

This Morning kicked off in chaotic fashion today as chef John Torode panicked that he "wasn't ready" for his egg segment.

This comes after the MasterChef presenter, 54, set his kitchen on fire earlier this week after leaving a tea towel on the hob.

Phil introduced the show by wishing Colonel Tom Moore happy birthday before moving onto the first segment.

He said: "We're starting with a classic breakfast booming in popularity - boiled eggs and soldiers.

John Torode was caught unaware at the beginning of today's This Morning (ITV)
He asked Holly and Phil to 'return later' (ITV)

"But how do you make the perfect soft boiled egg?"

The presenters then said good morning to John Torode, who was standing in his kitchen.

However he said: "Good morning everybody. You are very early! I was told it would be 10 past 10."

Holly and Phil switched up the format of today's show (ITV)

"Six minutes early," Phil responded. "Do you want us to come back?"

John placed his eggs into the pan and Phil probed: "Do you want us to do that?"

"You can do that or I can boil an egg for you now?' John asked, looking stressed.

The pair moved on to present the cheese segment instead (ITV)

"Yeah," Phil said and appeared to ask the show's bosses: "Shall we do cheese and wine instead?"

"To give you a little bit of extra time?" Holly asked.

John gave them a sarcastic thumbs up as Phil exclaimed: "Look, we don't care! It's absolutely fine, we're very adaptable here."

But when they tried to contact ex-Corrie actor Sean Wilson to speak cheese, they realised he was delayed too.

Phil announced: "He's not ready yet because John wasn't ready, so..."
