Eamonn Holmes has announced he is set to make a shock return to This Morning.
The Northern Irish presenter has been fronting ITV's flagship daytime programme over the summer alongside wife Ruth Langsford.
Friday's episode was supposed to be the final episode of the pair's summer takeover as a new line-up of Alison Hammond, Vernon Kay and Rochelle Humes were set to host the show for this upcoming week.
But Eamonn has announced on Twitter he is set to make a quick return to present alongside Rochelle - after both Alison Hammond and Vernon Kay have been hit with illness.
He tweeted: "But just when you thought you'd got rid of me .... sickness with @AlisonHammond and @vernonkay means I'm off the bench.
"Get well soon to them but I have my boots on and I'm ready to play. Monday and Tuesday line up is now myself and @RochelleHumes. Hope you can join us."
Eamonn's return will come as a nice surprise for fans of the show disappointed by the announcement that Friday's episode was supposed to his last episode presenting for a while.
One fan said: ""Thank you @RuthieeL and @EamonnHolmes for a summer of fun on @thismorning - will miss you."
Another added: "I'm going to miss Ruth and Eamonn."
A third said: "I DON'T WANT RUTH AND EAMONN TO GO."
The regular presenting team of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are set to return from their summer break from September 6.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV and ITV Hub
