Phillip Schofield spoke today about being forced to dye his hair after turning grey aged 16.
The This Morning presenter told the show that he was told by an Australian TV producer that he had to colour his mane, which he described as being two-toned “like a badger”.
Oldham-born Schofe, 57, has been on British TV screens since 1985, explained that he dyed his hair throughout his career until recent years when he has embraced the natural look.
Fans will remember him from BBC children's TV programmes including Saturday morning TV show Going Live! and the Broom Cupboard.
“I went grey when I was 16, so did my mother,” he explained.

“When I got a job on Australian TV when I was 19 the producer told me, you’re going to have to colour that - and it was coloured ever since.
“So all the pictures that you saw of me... I am a badger under there.”
Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom were also on the programme when a discussion came up about stress causing people to go grey.
Steph said: “It’s vanity. I think men with grey hair are hugely sexy.”

Speaking of Phil and Dom, Holly Willoughby chipped in: “Well we have two fine specimens here right now.”
Viewers on Twitter were quick to agree with Steph about grey hair being sexy.
One said: “I agree with Steph men with grey hair look fab.”
“Larry Lamb's son George Lamb is quite a bit all right with grey hair,” tweeted another.

A third posted: “Phil is grey due to living in that broom cupboard.”
Another vouched for the notion that stress is a factor when it comes to grey hair.
“Stress must definitely cause grey hair as I grew a whole patch of grey hair a couple of years ago when I went through the most stressful time of my life so far,” they said.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
