This Morning guest tells Phil and Holly how she saves money by feeding her family roadkill

A mum told how she cooks roadkill for her family to save money on This Morning.

Blogger Laura Ansbro, who shares her recipes on Millennial Hunter Gatherer, visited the ITV chat show to reveal how she and her husband pick up roadkill in their car.

Speaking with hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby Laura explained that she and her husband, a former gamekeeper, ensure the birds and animals are fresh.

"In the car it would go, you take it home and prepare it. When we find anything fresh it's in the morning," she said.

Laura told the presenters that she would only take the roadkill "if it's been bumped" and said they've collected deer, pheasant, rabbit and once took a pigeon that fell from sky after being electrocuted by an overheard power line.

In the segment entitled 'I feed my family roadkill and save a fortune' Laura says her family come round for dinner. They're impressed by her cooking and amazed by the savings she makes.

But Phillip pressed: "Are they wary when you make a pie?"

At the end of the segment the pair both said they were impressed and praised it as a 'great idea' before leaving Laura seated on the couch alone as they went off to talk to This Morning doctor Dr Chris Steele.

The blogger chatted to Phil and Holly (ITV/This Morning)

"Don't think we're being rude we're going to go and talk to Dr Chris," explained Phil as she watched them walk away.

"Only roadkill I’ve ever seen is squirrels, hedgehogs, foxes, seagulls and the odd pigeon.. don’t fancy of that for dinner," said one viewer.

"I suddenly fancy a Big Badger Mac with cheese!" joked another.
