This Morning guest Santa issues stark warning to children about Christmas

This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield had a very special interview on Thursday's show as they spoke to Santa live from Lapland.

But Santa had a stark warning for kids about Christmas this year, after a very difficult year for everyone.

He told the children that they must make their Christmas lists a little shorter this year, as there has been a shortage of materials in his grotto.

But, he reminded them, that does not mean they are necessarily on the naughty list.

Speaking about the Christmas lockdown rules, Phillip asked Santa: "Next Christmas will be better?"

Santa replied: "Oh without a doubt, I am writing my own wish list to myself, I think it's going to be marvellous, replied Santa, who explained he keeps himself safe from Covid with his "santabodies".

"But there is one little thing, if you have a wish list, you have to make it a little bit shorter this year, because we haven't been able to get the materials in to make the toys.

"So there aren't as many toys this year, but don't worry, it's not because you've not been good, it's just because of the corona situation.

"But I'm sure if we all try and just use our common sense, we will all have a really, truly wonderful and warm Christmas."

Santa explained he and his elves use "santatiser" in  the North pole to keep their hands clean of any germs.

Holly asked if she could have some santatiser, and Santa said it would depend on if she had been a good girl.

"I have really tried to be, I think I have, I'm not going to lie, there have been moments but it's been a difficult year," said Holly.

"It has been, but all I am saying is, drink in moderation," Santa advised her.
