This Morning guest Drillminister puzzles viewers with his balaclava and theory about Coronavirus

This Morning viewers were left puzzled and slightly freaked out by a guest who appeared on the show and claimed wearing a balaclava would protect him from coronavirus.

Those tuning in to watch the hit ITV daytime show on Thursday, saw hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby speak to rapper Drillminister - who sat on the sofa wearing a white jacket, glasses, a hat and a balaclava that only showed his eyes.

Drillminister is running to be Mayor of London and referring to his mask he told Phil and Holly: "This will be mandatory on the London underground.

"You’ll get one when you get your oyster."

"You're going be fine in your mask', teased fellow guest Beverly Turner, to which he replied: "Hey listen, I've got no time for Corona, not getting that.'"

His appearance caused a stir on Twitter. One tweeted: " #ThisMorning are you ok? Are you being robbed? There is a masked man on your sofa," and another posted: "masked man on #ThisMorning did they drag him off the street?"

Another puzzled viewer watching the show at home posted: "Erm...enlighten me folks, who's the guy in the balaclava, and why is he wearing it?"

The topic coronavirus has been discussed at length on This Morning this week, with Phillip raising his own concerns about it after going on holiday to France.

And issuing This Morning viewers who have holidays booked, virologist Stephen Griffin said: "If you can get the flu vaccine get it, because then you know you're not going to have flu and you won't confuse those symptoms with Coronavirus.

"We still need to be vigilant about all the other nasties that are spreading through the winter months."

When questioned more by Phillip, Stephen added: "They are entirely different viruses; the vaccines and drugs we use against flu do not work against this coronavirus."
