This Morning guest Anne Hegerty wins viewers' praise for keeping calm and carrying on despite on-air disturbance

She's the picture of composure under pressure on The Chase so it's perhaps no surprise that Anne Hegerty would not let an unexpected phone call throw her off her track.

The quiz show star and TV favourite was in the middle of conversation on ITV 's This Morning when the show was disturbed by the sound of a ringing phone.

Viewers watched as Anne ploughed on regardless and carried on talking, with none of the programme's fellow Chase guests seemingly aware of just whose phone was the culprit.

It was left to host Phillip Schofield to eventually ask: "Whose phone is that? Do you want to get it?" before the former 2018 I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! contestant addressed the interruption, replying: "It has just gone to the voicemail, sorry!"

Anne, renowned for being formidable quiz opponent The Governess on The Chase game show, impressed viewers with her cool handling of the badly-timed call which came as she was taking part in a virtual chat alongside fellow stars of The Chase Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace about their new road trip show which will launch on ITV this evening, reports The Mirror.

It says viewers praised how she managed to ignore the ring tone, with comments such as "Anne carried on like pro during the phone ringing. Nice Thumbs up#ThisMorning" and "Phone ****** ringing Anne knowing full well she’s live on air! #ThisMorning".

Anne's new three-part series - Chaser's Road Trip: Trains, Brains And Automobiles - sees the group on an around-the-world road trip testing whether they are 'as smart as we think we are'' and pitting their wits against the likes of child geniuses, robots and even great apes.

It begins this Thursday, January 21 on ITV at 9pm.
