This Morning gaffe as Phillip Schofield is caught doing something he shouldn't be

This Morning suffered an awkward technical gaffe that saw Phillip Schofield caught out on his phone.

The presenter was accused of trying to enter the ITV's competition when he was caught texting during work.

The show had cut to King's Lynn where Alison Hammond was showing off the luxury £250,000 lodge being given away in a competition.

But as she headed toward the luxe property, the screen froze and cut back to the studio.

Holly and Phil were sat behind a desk waiting to pick up after Alison, but were caught short when they went live earlier than expected.

Phil was using his phone and quickly put it down on the desk when he realised he was live on the telly.

"I was on my phone," he said as he burst out laughing.

Holly joked: "Were you entering the competition? You're not allowed to do that!"

He laughed: "No, I was about to Instagram how you get tickets to the new series of 5 Gold Rings."

"So technically you were working," Holly said.

Phil said: "So I was working. I was actually working."

* This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV
