This Morning forced to plan huge changes amid coronavirus pandemic

This Morning bosses have revealed plans for the show to plough ahead amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Presenters Holly Willoughby, Phil Schofield, Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes are expected to continue the daytime chat show as the government tightens restrictions on social contact.

Holly and Phil continued the show as normal on Thursday (ITV)

As the advice gets stricter, guests may be forced to appear on the show via video links.

An ITV spokesman said: "Our live Daytime output continues to evolve and contingency plans in place would allow us to air from alternative locations and in more nimble ways - such as guests appearing remotely via other studios or Skype and FaceTime."

The news comes after host Phil admitted the show was hanging on 'by the skin of its teeth'.

During a chat about the effect the virus has had on filming, Phil said that it was 'bound to happen'.

The show isn't the first to be making some changes to its format, as ITV's Saturday Night Takeaway prepares to film its first live show without an audience.

A spokesperson for the show said: "Our priority is safeguarding the well-being of everyone involved.

“The show will be made with a reduced production crew and in accordance with the latest guidance from Public Health England.

“The team are looking forward to bringing our viewers a brilliant show on Saturday evening.”

The duo told their online followers: A quick hello from a very different #SaturdayNightTakeaway script meeting! We’ll massively miss our studio audience but the show will go on this weekend. Stay safe everyone, we’ll see you on the telly this Saturday."

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV at 10am.
