This Morning fans in tears as agony aunt Deidre Sanders says husband died before MBE

This Morning fans shed a tear while watching Deidre Sanders share that her husband had died.

The ITV daytime show's agony aunt shared the devastating news as she spoke about making the 2023 New Year Honours list. Her husband of 55 years, Rick, had died days after her MBE news and just before Christmas.

She appeared via videolink from her home to talk to hosts Andi Peters and Josie Gibson as she revealed that he got news of her making the list before dying. She said: "A special thing for me was, a lot of you know my husband died just before Christmas on December 16th."

She added: "But this call came through about a week before he died so that was really special for me. I could share it with him and say what had happened.

"I was with Rick for 55 years, so that was really great. He was always a great tease so he had to get in a few digs first. But he did the next day tell my daughter and tell me just how proud he was, so that made it extra, extra special."

Viewers shared Deidre's sadness as they commented on Twitter. Carol said: "Congratulations and condolences to #Deidre Brought a tear to my eye #thismorning."

Ursula added: "Aww how sad .. condolences to Deidre #ThisMorning."
