This Morning fans in hysterics as Alison Hammond gives tour of newly opened Greggs in Birmingham

Alison Hammond left This Morning fan in tears of laughter as she gave viewers a tour of a newly opened Greggs in Birmingham.

The TV presenter was completely thrilled at the bakery chain's return, admitting she had plans to "smash" a sausage roll.

It comes as 800 stores across the UK opened their doors to the public once again today, with more to open next month, after closing back in March due to the coronavirus outbreak.

During her segment on the ITV show, the born and bred Brummie, gave viewers a glimpse of what they can expect when visiting a store.

"We've waited 12 weeks for a sausage roll!" on eager customer exclaimed, and it would seem many people watching the show from home were not only in agreement, but also in awe of Alison's high energy.

One enamoured viewer took to social media to tweet: "I love Alison Hammond so much I can’t explain it."

Another put: "@AlisonHammond you’ve just made my morning. Girl after my own heart, keeping your debit card in your bra and off to smash your sausage roll.... Enjoy xxx"

"Alison Hammond casually swiping her card out of her bra to smash a sausage roll while doing a segment on Greggs has cheered me right up. #ThisMorning @AlisonHammond" A third chimed.

A fourth admitted: "@AlisonHammond is brilliant she makes me laugh every single morning on @thismorning and has got me through lock down."

Another insisted: "I'm not gonna lie, I'm so happy that @GreggsOfficial has reopened some of their stores today. There is nothing better than a Greggs vegan sausage roll when you're on a shopping day out! @AlisonHammond x"

While inside the Birmingham store, Alison went on to ask: "Can I have a sausage roll and a steak bake please?"

"You have this Perspex glass and they are encouraging people to use contactless, so I have got my card here." She said before whipping out her card from her bra.

Greggs limited menu: Everything you can order for takeaway and delivery

"Now, they did do a trial of this in the North East and it went so well." She continued.

"We have some customers in..." Alison added, welcoming Hannah, who told the presenter: "We've waited 12 weeks for a sausage roll!"

Greggs is re-opening with strict takeaway and collection service available, as sites operate limited menus to keep customers and staff safe.

Although the chain has reduced it's menu for the time being, plenty of classic staples and fan-favourites are still available to buy, including steak bakes and sausage rolls.

The re-opening of Greggs coincides with an easing of the lockdown across the country, with non-essential stores given permission to re-open from Monday June 15.
