This Morning fans were left seething after presenter Eamonn Holmes made a 'hot tub' joke about Phillip Schofield and fellow presenter Holly Willoughby.
The presenter publicly announced that he was "coming to terms" with the fact that he is gay in a statement posted online.
Appearing on the show, he told Holly about his "incredible" family and the moment he revealed to them that he was gay.
He said: "It's funny because, everyone that I've spoken to have all been so supportive, so loving and caring.
"My entire family, to a person, have grabbed us and said it's OK, we love you, we're proud of you. With every person I tell, it gets a little lighter and a little lighter."
Holly then promised Phil that she would be by his side supporting him "forever and ever and ever".
And Phil praised his co-star for being his "shoulder to cry on".
Fans were left in tears during the heartbreaking interview, but a comment from Eamonn left some viewers outraged.
Eamonn said: "There is this great imponderable in life that has always bothered me, I thought how come he can sit in a hot tub with Holly Willoughby and Steph doesn't have a problem and Dan doesn't have a problem?
"She [Ruth] would have had a problem!"
Phil responded to the comment by simply saying: "This is the sister I never had."
Fans took to Twitter to slam Eamonn for the "gross" comment.
One said: "Eamonn Holmes DID NOT JUST SAY to Phillip Schofield coming out as gay 'I always wondered how you could sit in a hot tub next to holly'."
Another wrote: "Eamonn Holmes joking with Phillip Schofield saying how he always wondered how he was allowed in a hot tub with Holly, ******* hell bit soon lad."
A third said: "Eamonn Holmes being inappropriate as per today, his hot tub comment was gross. Basically insinuated Steph has always known Phil was gay and that's why she let him be friends with Holly..."
"What unnecessary comments about a hot tub from Eamonn!!" ranted another viewer.
