This Morning fans fuming over 'disgraceful' remark on royal photo

This Morning fans were left disgusted today after branding a comment made by Julia Hartley-Brewer about a royal photo "disgraceful".

Julia appeared on the ITV show to speak about the issues of the day, including a new photo released by the Royal Family of The Queen and Prince Philip with their great grandchildren following the Duke of Edinburgh's death.

The photo featured several of the couple's great grandchildren, including Prince George, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte, but was taken before baby Archie was born.

Hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary both said what a lovely photo it was and how it showed the couple were also just a family.

But Julia commented that she thought Meghan Markle would be offended by the photo and even suggested the Duchess of Sussex would find it racist, because it didn't contain her son.

Julia laughed as she said it but the rest of the panel remained stony faced, before fellow panellist Nicola Thorp pulled Julia up on her comment and said: "Julia you cannot say that."

Nicola explained how offensive her comment was as Julia tried to backtrack and say she was only joking.

Dermot said: "We chose that item first because we thought it would be something nice to talk about first, wow."

And viewers at home were shocked by Julia's comments and took to social media to slam her.

Luna Lee said: "Julia’s comment has actually disgusted me. The irony is that ‘joke’ is exactly why POC don’t feel comfortable reporting on racism/microagressions, because people like her will mock and belittle true and triggering experiences."

Polly Mcgaw said: "Wow did Julia just say that?? Making light of racism, disgrace get her off"

Neil said: " #ThisMorning disgusting comment by Julia. And she laughs."

vickster51 said: "Bravo!! Well said pulling Julia up on that pathetic snarky comment. We’re now resorting to slagging off Meghan for things we think she’d say. This coverage is just getting ridiculous."

And Ruth G said: "Julia please shut up. Absolutely fuelling the fire for no reason. Pathetic."
