This Morning fans disappointed over Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford announcement

This Morning fans were disappointed, and somewhat surprised, by Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford's announcement on today's show.

The husband and wife duo were back to bring viewers Friday's edition of the ITV show as they usually do.

But just as they said their goodbyes on the programme to pass over to Loose Women, they told viewers they wouldn't be seeing them as soon as next week.

Eamonn and Ruth, both 60, usually presenting the last This Morning of the week while Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield take the reins from Monday to Thursday.

However, the pair suggested they wouldn't be on hosting duties for the next couple of weeks, before returning in the summer.

At the end of the episode, Eamonn said: "Thank you for watching.

"We'll be doing this all over again in the summer, in a couple of weeks

"We'll be back then. Goodbye."

No date or who would be replacing them has been announced but it's not unusual for this time of the year.

Eamonn and Ruth take over full time during what would usually be the school summer holidays while Holly and Phil take an extended break.

Therefore it is assumed the daytime couple are taking a break before they are on Monday to Thursday presenting duties.

But as they didn't give a clear explanation for their break from the show, some fans were a little confused as one asked: "Hang on @EamonnHolmes & Ruth off for a few weeks??"

And others were really dissapointed.

"Hang on @EamonnHolmes & Ruth off for a few weeks?? Nooooooo don't leave us," one said.

Another commented: "Gutted. Will miss you"

"Fridays are the only time I'll happily sit through #ThisMorning as I love @EamonnHolmes and @RuthieeL," commented a third.

Don't worry, they will be back and in the meantime they'll still be over on Channel 4 on the Celebrity Gogglebox sofa.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
