This Morning fans baffled as Ruth and Eamonn still have to explain why they aren't distancing

This Morning fans couldn't believe it on This Morning when hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes still had to explain their relationship.

They are married and live together, so they do not have to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

But as so many furious viewers get in touch to criticise them for sitting together in the studio, they still have to announce at the start of the show that they are married.

Ruth said at the start of the show: "Just to say if it is the first time you've tuned in, we are allowed to sit this close because we are married."

One viewer wrote on Twitter : "Just have a message on the screen for Eamonn and Ruth regarding social distancing. Ridiculous they have to keep explaining! #thismorning ".

Another added: "And in 3.... 2.... 1.... cue people asking why Eamonn and Ruth are sitting together. #ThisMorning ".

"They actually addressed it themselves today! Can’t believe viewers are still making that comment!" ranted a third.

On Friday's show, the hosts spoke to a doctor on the show to get answers about the new coronavirus tests announced yesterday.

Dr Phillippa Kay appeared via video link and explained the different ways key workers can be tested, including newly-built mobile test centres and home tests delivered to your door.

Dr Phillippa explained that all key workers, whose children are in school now, are eligible for these tests.

You can either register through the government's website, or your employer can register you if you work in a private care home, for example.

"There are new test centres popping up, there are also new mobile test centres which the army is involved in, and there are home testing kits," she said.

She added that there was research to check home testing was accurate as a professional carrying it out, and it seemed they were.

Home testing kits may be sent out by Royal Mail or even Boots or Amazon, and Dr Phillippa said home tests give results back in 72 hours, and if you go to a test centre, you will have your results within 48 hours.

Dr Phillippa advised that home testing swabs must go right into the back of your mouth, even if it makes you gag, because otherwise tests might come back falsely negative if not done correctly.
