This Morning fans accuse chef of 'crossing the line' after topping jacket potato with caviar

This Morning viewers were left utterly horrified and accused a chef of "crossing the line" after she deviated in a rather extreme manner from the humble baked beans and cheese jacket potato combo.

Irish chef Clodagh McKenna attempted to improve on perfection by suggesting a fishy twist that did not go down well with fans.

Joining Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford in the studio, Clodagh suggested topping jacket potatoes with whipped crème fraîche... and trout caviar.

While Ruth and Eamonn happily munched on the the potatoes, viewers were not quite so eager and voiced their disgust on Twitter.

One insisted: "You can’t beat a jacket potato with butter, beans and cheese. Why mess with a classic?! #thismorning."

While another furiously tweeted: "Fish pie on Jacket? What is this evilness."

A third declared: "Enough with your potato pimpery #ThisMorning,"

"Urgh you don’t put fish pie in a baked potato are you ill or something?," another questioned.

One wrote: "@thismorning CAVIAR Clodagh? Lovin ya work but I’m a huge #bakedpotato eater & think you’re maybe over complicating it Gotta be oven done tho, not microwave!! #ThisMorning."

Another wrote with two puking emojis: "Fish, prawns and/or caviar - in a jacket potato!"

Earlier on, Ruth had asked Eamonn if he was OK as she admitted that everyone had been asking after him.

The host, 61, went to hospital last week for an MRI about his chronic pain and is currently undergoing physio treatment.

Fans feared that he wouldn't be returning this week, but were relieved when he appeared alongside Ruth on Monday.

And introducing the show today, Eamonn said: "You've got This Morning today with Eamonn and Ruth."

"You certainly have," Ruth agreed before turning to her husband. "How are you doing? You alright?"

"Since the last time I saw you, yes I'm doing very well, thank you for asking," Eamonn said.

Ruth responded: "Good, just checking because a lot of people are asking after you - 'How's your husband, is he alright?'"

"It's too difficult to explain," he said. "We're not here to talk about my troubles and my pain."
