Eamonn Holmes opened up about his recent health problems during an appearance on This Morning earlier today (5 April).

The presenter has returned to co-hosting the popular ITV chat show alongside his wife, Ruth Langsford, during the Easter holidays.

On this morning’s episode, Holmes spoke about suffering from “intense” back pain, and revealed that his wait for an MRI scan analysis has been extended due to the Easter break.

“Those of you who follow me on social media will know [that] about a month ago I did something to my back,” he said. “I don’t know how I did it – getting into the car, getting out of a car, getting out of bed, whatever.

“I’ve got an MRI scan, but the trouble is, everything closes for Easter, I haven’t got it analysed yet, but what I do know is, I can’t sleep at night.”

Holmes revealed that the pain in his back intensifies during the night, and urged sufferers of chronic pain to talk to each other and consult medical experts. He revealed that he had received hundreds of message of support after talking about his condition on social media.

“The humbling thing is when you go on social media and you talk to people who suffer from this, age isn’t a barrier, where you live isn’t a barrier, how much you earn isn’t a barrier,” he continued.

“So many of you have this chronic pain situation, from all different sources. So let’s talk about this, let’s talk to each other, let’s talk to a doctor, we’re talking to a pain expert.”

This Morning then welcomed pain specialist Dr Katy Munro onto the show.

The episode can be watched now on ITV Hub, with new episodes airing weekdays at 10am on ITV.
