One of This Morning's resident doctors has issued health warning as temperatures set to drop below freezing.
Dr Zoe Williams was on Friday's edition of the ITV show discussing the latest health headlines with hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.
During the segment, the doctor encouraged viewers to keep warm with snow and freezing temperatures predicted over the weekend.
She said on This Morning : "We know that we see a lot of excess deaths in winter because of the temperatures, and this week we’re gonna see temperatures drop below zero.
"Now, this is really important for our health, because in 24 hours of temperatures dropping below zero, we see a huge increase in heart attacks.
"Within two days, we see an increase in strokes, within a week we see respiratory illnesses climbing.
"So it's really important for people, particularly people who have either a heart condition or a respiratory illness, to keep themselves warm."
Dr Zoe advised: "Turn the temperatures up to at least 18 degrees if you can afford to, wrap up warm, hot water bottles or electric blankets, not both, have at least one hot meal a day."
"And I think the message to everyone out there is if you know people who are vulnerable, people who are elderly, or people who have underlying health conditions, check in on them. See what they need, give them a call."
A 'Baltic Beast' is expected to bring heavy snow and torrential rain to parts of the UK this weekend.
The cold snap could see temperatures as low as minus two in some places.
