This Morning descends into chaos as guest shatters glass table - and Phil wasn't happy

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield was left seemingly fuming at a guest after he smashed the studio's glass table.

Holly and Phil were joined on the show by Jonathan Sayer, Henry Lewis and Henry Shields, the creators of The Play That Goes Wrong.

The three sat on the iconic This Morning sofa as the presenters introduced the trio, but one of the guests sent the show into chaos after dropping his mug onto the glass table.

Glass shattered across the studio floor, as Phil raged: "Does that follow you everywhere you go? Does everything go wrong?"

Holly added: "Great, well er, we'll clean that up then, shall we."

The guest appeared sheepish as he apologised for the damage, but Phil continued: "You'll pay for that by the way!"

Viewers were left in stitches by the drama, with one saying: "Wtf!??? I mean, who DROPS their cup into a GLASS table!!???"

Another wrote: "Great way to introduce yourself. Smash the table."

"Has that really just happened?" asked another.

But viewers were then told that the incident was actually a stunt, as Phil said: "A few minutes ago they caused chaos in our studio, that was fantastic.

"We've got sugar glass on the table and a microphone underneath. It just goes to prove that you can make something look sensational if you do it right."

Henry, the guest who smashed the table, said: "It's very carefully choreographed [in the play], that was thrown together in a few minutes."

But some This Morning fans weren't tricked by the stunt, with one saying: "I mean all those confused people thinking that was real. Are YOU for real??"

Another said: "Breaking glass sound effects could have been better, but it's #ThisMorning innit."

"Do you really think we fell for that #ThisMorning?" said another.

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV at 10am.
