A laughing Richard Madeley has recalled the moment he was told his advice was "terrible."
Richard used to present ITV's daytime staple This Morning with wife Judy Finnigan, which involved taking calls from members of the public and offering some words of wisdom.
He told the story as he sat in for Steph McGovern during Steph's Packed Lunch, chatting with Grand Designs host Kevin McCloud.
Asking Kevin - who's presented Grand Designs for two decades - whether anyone ever takes his expert opinion into account, he laughed and said they rarely listen to him.
And Richard had a similar story dating back to his This Morning days, when a viewer called in for some marriage advice.
"I feel your pain," he told Kevin, who'd shared his experiences of stubborn guests.
"I remember many years ago doing a phone-in with Judy on This Morning. I was dealing with a particular caller who'd asked for some advice on some marriage problem.
"I gave what I thought was fairly astute and clever advice, and she said, 'That is a terrible idea!' Then she rang off!"
Kevin immediately started laughing, and was soon joined by Gemma Atkinson and Russel Kane.
Richard and Judy presented This Morning between 1998 and 2001, before making the move to Channel 4 to host their own show for seven years.
In October, they made a return to This Morning as they sat in for Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.
