This Morning audience criticise flight passenger who reclined seat on short haul flight and left Phillip and Holly stunned

This Morning viewers have criticised a guest who recorded another passenger repeatedly punching the back of her seat after she reclined it.

Wendi Williams recorded a video, that has since gone viral, of a passenger repeatedly punching the back of her seat.

This happened after Ms Williams reclined her seat on board of an American Airlines plane, the Birmingham Mail reports.

Ms Williams spoke to presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby today.

"I didn't know this was a hot button issue and there was this much controversy around it," she said.

"I reclined my seat and the man behind me asked if I could put it up while he eats.

"I did exactly as he asked and reclined again when he finished, at which point there was no conversation and he just started punching [my seat]."

Phil then interjected and asked: "Why didn't you put your seat back up?"

"At that point I was in shock. It wasn't something I thought about," Wendi responded.

"I have neck and spine problems, that's why I reclined my seat."

To Wendi's surprise the flight attendant gave her a passenger disturbance notice.

According to This Morning, the note read: "You should immediately cease your behaviour if you wish to avoid prosecution and your removal from this airline at the point of your next arrival."

"He should have got the notice," Wendi argued.

"It was very clear that when I got the flight attendants attention that she was on his side."

A spokesperson for American Airlines said: "We are aware of a customer dispute that transpired on American Eagle flight 4392, operated by Republic Airways on January 31.

"The safety and comfort of our customers and team members is our top priority, and our team is looking into the issue."

One viewer asked: "Am I the only one that thinks this woman reclining her seat in someone’s face on the plane is completely out of order?

"I have no sympathy for her."

Another added: "NO... You shouldnt have moved your seat after he already asked you to move it.  #thismorning ."

A third said: "I would Never Recline my Seat on a Plane Because I Hate it when people in front of me do it. The Planes just not big enough to have reclining seats  #ThisMorning ."
