This Morning and Loose Women hit by awkward live on air moment as link goes horribly wrong

The perils of live television struck on Monday as a live link between This Morning and Loose Women went wrong in very awkward scenes.

Fresh from hosting the Dancing on Ice final on Sunday night, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were back on the This Morning sofa and interviewed winner Joe Swash and his professional skating partner Alex Murphy.

Joe's other half is Loose Women star Stacey Solomon and, while she wasn't on the panel on Monday, Joe was lined up to appear on the lunchtime talk show so needed to dash off from his chat with Phillip and Holly.

And that's when things went wrong on camera, as you can watch in the video above. Just as he does every day, Phillip made an attempt to cross live to the Loose Women studio and speak to host Andrea McLean so she could reveal what was coming up on the show.

However, the crossover didn't work at all as the Loose Women failed to appear, with absolutely no sound or visuals from the studio next door.

Trying to cover up the error, Holly remarked "I think they're waiting for Joe Swash," to which Phillip replied: "In which case we might not find them at all!"

The interview with Joe came after Phillip was slammed by Dancing on Ice viewers for his cutting comment to the former Eastenders actor moments after his Dancing on Ice win.

Joe looked stunned at the outcome and the Dancing on Ice result has also sparked anger from many viewers, many who assumed clear favourite Perri would win and wanted him to.

Phillip also seemed like he predicted a Perri win, with him telling the Diversity dancer "everyone thought you had it in the bag." Gracious in defeat, Perri said Joe deserved to win.

But then, just before the credits rolled, the famous presenter turned to Joe and said "without question Joe most improved, most improved."
