This man rode around Liverpool on an electric bike armed with a loaded pistol and a machine gun

A man was jailed after police discovered he was carrying a loaded pistol and machine gun as rode around the streets - on an electric bike.

Jamie Red Hanley, 33, was stopped in his tracks by officers after he tried to flee on his bike when spotted  in Wavertree in April.

When police searched him they discovered he was armed with a loaded Smith and Wesson pistol and a Mach 10 machine pistol with ammunition.

Hanley, of Lorenzo Drive in Norris Green , was arrested and charged over the guns offences.

And today Merseyside Police confirmed "dangerous offender" Hanley was jailed for six years after admitting two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of possession of ammunition

Detective Inspector Phil Mahon said: "It is pleasing to see a dangerous offender and two potentially lethal weapons removed from the streets of Merseyside.

"The circumstances of Hanley's arrest show that he would have been intending to use these weapons to cause serious harm in the community, actions thankfully prevented by his arrest and incarceration."
