The people of TikTok are in uproar over a husband’s overwhelmingly selfish decision to stop paying for an insurance plan mere days before his wife was due to undergo a hysterectomy procedure which could very well save her life.
The woman, whose name is Anne, shared her predicament in a now deleted post on TikTok. She explained that she was scheduled for a total hysterectomy as she potentially had cancer in her uterus. The surgery had apparently been booked in for months and the woman had had multiple MRIs and other hospital visits during the last few months.
However, she would come to find out that her husband hadn’t been paying the family’s health insurance plan since August, meaning the insurance provider would backdate all her hospital appointments so they would now have to pay for those out of pocket. Not only that, but her upcoming hysterectomy procedure would not be financially feasible any more due to them not having insurance.
TikTok reactions
While the original video has since disappeared from TikTok, other creators on the platform have weighed in with their thoughts on the matter. One creator, “ImperfectDad,” suggested that this was grounds for divorce. “It’s pretty rare for me to say you should divorce your husband and this might be one of those instances.”

ImperfectDad also calls out the husband for his lack of support as he even refused to take his wife to her hospital appointment prior to him admitting that he hadn’t paid the insurance.
Another recounted how Anne had pointed out her husband had money for upcoming trips (to the superbowl), family visits and fantasy football of all things and yet suddenly couldn’t afford to pay for the family insurance during the time his wife needed it most. It seems like this guy needs to sort out his priorities.
A third labeled it as “weaponized incompetence,” although this seems more extreme than simple incompetence, some have gone as far as to call it attempted murder as without this procedure Anne could die, leaving her three children motherless.
People are worried for Anne
The whole situation has many questioning why a supposedly loving husband would allow such a thing to happen. Letting your insurance policy lapse isn’t something that just happens by mistake, surely he would be doing everything in his power to make sure his wife receives the proper treatment?
People are naturally worried for Anne, especially since her account has since disappeared from TikTok altogether. Since October there have unfortunately been no updates on the situation. ImperfectDad claims that the last update from Anne was that she was sleeping in the family RV but we can only hope she divorces her husband and is able to find a way to get the treatment she needs.
