This lad asked Benjamin Mendy for an autograph and ended up getting the whole team's signatures

A delighted young Manchester City fan couldn't believe his luck when Benjamin Mendy took his shirt to the dressing room for the rest of the team to sign.

Husdon Sheppard bumped into the left back during the Premier League champions’ clash with Brighton on Saturday.

The pair bonded when Mendy - who was donning a striking pair of clear sunglasses and a purple fleece jacket - complimented the schoolboy on his fashion sense.

He even got a hug from the popular player, who is currently recovering from a serious knee injury.

Buoyed by Mendy’s good-natured chat, eleven-year-old Hudson asked the footballer for a selfie and if he could take his City top into the changing room to be signed by the other players.

“He never expected him to actually do it,” Hudson’s dad Steve says.

The family travelled more than 240 miles from their home town of Portsmouth for the game and forked out for hospitality tickets as a treat for Hudson before he starts secondary school in September.

Steve, 38, said:  “We try to come up a couple of times a season. We’re big City fans. All my family are from the north so that’s the link.

“We left at 7am yesterday morning and it took us about four-and-a-half hours to get up here.

“Today was a bit of a treat for Hudson. We were doing the hospitality thing but we didn’t expect Mendy to be there at all.

“We had a meal and some drinks and Hudson noticed Mendy and a few people were making a big deal of it.

“We said to Hudson ‘see if you can get his signature’ because he had his shirt with him.

“He signed it and I took a picture and then we said ‘see if you can get a selfie’. After that he was confident enough to ask Mendy if he would take his shirt to the dressing room.

“We’d heard about him being such a nice guy and he said he’d come and find us. After the match he came to find us and sort of presented the shirt to Hudson. It was amazing.

“Even though we’d said he should try we didn’t expect him to do it.

“Hudson is buzzing. We’re still trying to calm him down.”

While taking time out to chat to the family, World Cup winner Mendy even complimented Hudson on his style.

“Mendy is a hero,” says Steve. “He’s a really nice guy.

“Hudson’s quite into his fashion and he knows Mendy is as well. When he brought the signed shirt over he was showing him his clothes and Mendy complimented him on his style.”

Earlier this week, Mendy was who was begging for change Manchester city centre.

The heartwarming moment was captured on film as Mendy left Rio Ferdinand's Rosso restaurant.

Footage shows the man approach the passenger side of the footballer’s car as Mendy lowers the window and passes him a shirt before smiling and giving the man the thumbs up.
