'This kid is a beast!' - Arsenal fans loved what Folarin Balogun did against Blackburn U23's

Folarin Balogun is a name Arsenal supporters would like to hear a lot more of in the future.

The forward is one of several talented youngsters in the Gunners ranks and he starred in the U23's 3-1 win over Blackburn Rovers on Monday night, helping himself to a stunning hat-trick.

With Eddie Nketiah joining Leeds United on loan for the season, an opportunity is there for the likes of Balogun as well as Tyreece-John Jules to step up as back-up to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

John-Jules signed a new contract last week, while Balogun has caught the eye of Aubameyang in recent months.

"This young boy is fire," tweeted the Gunners striker back in March 2019.

And it just so happens to be that Aubameyang is Balogun's idol.

"I am the sort of striker that likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender and make runs behind them, similar to the way that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang plays," said Balogun last season in an interview with Arsenal.com.

"I’ve trained a few times with the first team and I feel that I’ve benefitted from being involved with them, especially when playing against experienced defenders which forces you to find different ways of getting in on goal as what works at lower levels does not always work against them."

The future is certainly bright for the teenager and following his display for the U23's a number of Gunners fans are hoping Balogun gets more first-team opportunities over the coming months.
