We all put our little touches on our vehicles, right? We add some stickers (+5 horsepower per), we throw on a new seat cowl, a new exhaust is a must, change the paint, the wheels, etc, etc, etc ad nauseam. I mean, how else are we going to make our thing unique to us? It's the way of life when you're an enthusiast, and I've done it to literally every vehicle I've ever owned.
There's always something that can be bettered or tailored to you on your vehicle after leaving the factory floor. But what if you could do that directly from the factory? What if you didn't have to order aftermarket parts or overnight them from Japan? What if you could sit down with one of the manufacturer's engineers and designers and just build your perfect vehicle before that thing hits a dealership floor?
What if you could make something as unique as you are right from the jump? Well, MV Agusta wants to give that to you via the brand's new Sartoria Meccanica program, which will let you build your perfect bespoke motorcycle. It will, however, likely cost you a small fortune. But hey, you were going to spend that anyway, right?

Translated from Italian, Sartoria Meccanica means "mechanical tailoring" and will allow MV Agusta customers to take any of the brand's motorcycle models to wherever they wish to take it through one of three levels of customization, and basically goes from some small design changes to engineering insanity.
According to MV Agusta, the three levels will include Sartoria Meccanica Essenziale, Sartoria Meccanica Ricercato, and Sartoria Meccanica Iconico at the highest level of customization. The base program, Essenziale, will let customers choose their own colors and graphics for their motorcycles. Moving up wot Ricercato allows for changess to the "appearance of technical components such as the frame, swingarm and steering head, and can also choose the wheels to be fitted to their motorcycle."
But it's the last level, the highest level, where the real magic happens.

MV Agusta's Sartoria Meccanica Iconico gives customers everything from the first two tiers of customization, but adds oh so much more. Not only do those motorcyclists get to choose from the whole of MV Agusta's parts bin, but they can get "dedicated components" by working with the company's engineers, and find "one-off technical solutions" for their motorcycles. That seems to imply that you could theoretically take a Superveloce and maybe add a supercharger to it or even add a larger gas tank on an Enduro Veloce for longer distances between stops. I'm suddenly thinking about what I could work up with MV Agusta for a 'Long Way Round'...
Those who do choose the latter level will also have the option to snag a personalized helmet or motorcycle stand, and all the bikes that are built through Sartoria Meccanica will receive the brand's 5-year warranty, which is a nice addition, though something I'd have suspected to be in place no matter what.
As for how much the whole thing costs, I've got no clue. MV Agusta doesn't say, but I suspect that it'll depend on just exactly what you want to do. Paint and graphics are fairly cheap, but getting into the engineering or rather re-engineering of a motorcycle ain't gonna be $5 and a firm handshake. But MV Agustas aren't inexpensive in their own right either, and the brand's customers know that.
Still, if I had the money, I'd be calling them immediately. I've got thoughts.
