This is why you may have seen a police helicopter over Calverton

A police helicopter was scrambled to reports of a 'suspicious incident' in a Nottinghamshire village, officers have confirmed.

Police were called at around 4.15pm on Sunday, June 30.

Witnesses reported seeing police vehicles near the Oxton Woods area of Calverton and hearing sirens.

A police helicopter was also seen circling.

A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "We received a phone call of a suspicious incident and concern for safety around 4.15pm.

"Officers attended and investigated the area but found nothing suspicious."
