This is why the Yorkshire Air Ambulance was in Leeds tonight

West Yorkshire Police have revealed why the Yorkshire Air Ambulance landed south of Leeds this evening.

The independent charity's medical helicopter was seen landing in the Robin Hood village, prompting several posts on social media.

Pictures posted on Twitter show the helicopter landing outside homes.

The emergency medics were called to the area following a traffic collision between a car and a moped.

They were called at around 6.42pm, where they found one party involved in the incident had sustained injuries.

They were then airlifted to hospital in Leeds.

No one else is understood to have been injured in the collision.
